An Average Week in the Life of a Vet Student

I realize there are a lot of people who are curious as to what an average day is like for a vet student. Fact of the matter is: there are no average days  in vet school, at least not at the School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis. At best we have an expectation that we could be in school from anywhere from 8am to 5pm (or later on some nights). So instead of going through an average day in this post, I will take you through an average week for me. This includes my free time so you will be able to see how I distribute my time.

While this is very precisely an average week from within the past month, each week is different and there are different meetings scheduled, some weeks have more than one exam to study for, and of course, during Winter and Spring terms my free time often involves other sports: skiing and swimming, respectively. With that in mind, this is simply meant to give you an idea of what my life is like on a day-to-day basis. I will do my best to account for an average week in winter and spring terms so that you can gauge how I fit skiing, swimming and other such activities into my schedule.

  1. It’s interesting to see how you spend your time, because my weeks are dramatically different than yours. Of course I probably could have predicted that, just knowing our two different personalities 🙂

I definitely envy how good you are about building in time for other things. I’m still working on that…
